The Concept

CRUMB is your local sambo shop—energetic, friendly, and bursting with street-style charisma. Inspired by the good times of a NYC sandwich shop, Crumb brings this vibrant energy right into Sydney’s south west. The lighting design was crafted to amplify the shop’s playful, “lick-the-bag” delicious vibe, using light to highlight both the buttery base palette and the bold, graphic overlays that define the interior.
Layered lighting with custom pink pops to match the branding, combined with the graphic pink lights guiding the customer to the counter, channel the grit and vibrancy of New York’s street scene, while focused pools of light bring attention to menu boards and key seating areas. The lights accentuate the shop’s graphic elements and textured surfaces, adding playful shadows and depth that invite guests to linger.
The result is a space that feels energetic and friendly, echoing the charisma of a true NYC sandwich shop while staying true to Crumb’s Sydney roots.
